What do you focus on for your clients
I am a senior media and commercial lawyer with a wealth of transactional and project management experience. I advise a wide range of clients – from start ups to global leaders – on a wide range of issues – from licensing and distributing content to marketing and general service agreements.
Tell us about your professional background
I trained at Dentons and qualified into their TMT team from where I was seconded to Honda’s European HQ. I loved working ‘at the coal face’ and moved to an in house position at Discovery Communications Europe for a number of years and then to Honda’s IP team. Since joining Halebury I have had long term placements at FremantleMedia drafting and negotiating sponsorship and licensing agreements, at Constituency Management Group advising on a range of PR and marketing agencies across EMEA and APAC, at Liberty Global managing a project team and assisting with general legal matters – and at Discovery where I have worked across their corporate and distribution teams drafting, reviewing and negotiating service agreements and content licensing agreements throughout EMEA both individually and as part of complex JV deals. Alongside the placements I provide ongoing ad hoc work for a number of creative clients.
Tell us a bit about your working style and other interests
I enjoy working with in house teams and finding the best solution to their particular concerns. I understand that communication is key and ensure that I am readily available and always keep my clients updated. Outside of the working environment I am busy with two young children and a golden retriever called Frank.
Marissa entered our business seamlessly, as though she were a long term employee. Her pragmatic approach and commercial acumen coupled with her personable nature and willingness to help out wherever she could with all manner of work, made her an invaluable asset to our business. She is a wonderful ambassador for Halebury and I would recommend her without reservation to any business looking for extra legal support.
