7Digital Group plc, an AIM listed digital music business providing end-to-end digital music solutions, needed a full time maternity cover for their GC / SVP Business Affairs.

Solution

One of Halebury’s experienced commercial and media lawyers stepped into the role of Interim General Counsel, SVP General Affairs for a twelve month period. The role involved being a member of the senior management team and advising the management and Board on all issues affecting the business, as well as managing a team of six  (three junior lawyers and three licencing professionals).

Benefit

In addition to senior level management support, the Halebury lawyer played a key role during the acquisition of competitor, 24/7 Entertainment GmbH, a deal which was completed during the period of cover. They also provided valuable input and objective advice as to the evolution of the legal function at the company, and collaborated with the CEO, HR department and permanent GC on the restructuring of the legal and licensing team and recruitment of new team members, to continue to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the relevant teams and to promote the role of GC at the company.
